On December 16, 2011, the Ocean City Fire Department responded to Coastal Highway and 142nd Street for a motor vehicle crash with vehicle fire and victim entrapment.

Crews arrived and found a serious two vehicle crash with two victims trapped and one vehicle on fire.  Rescue personnel used Hurst Tools [the so-called "Jaws of Life"] to extract the subjects from the car. Both patients were removed from the vehicle within 12 minutes.

Two New KME Engines Delivered

By: Ryan L. Whittington, OCFD PIO

The Ocean City Fire Department has taken delivery of two (2) new KME Predator Engines. The Engines will replace two older fire engines that have been in service for over twenty years. There is a 550 gallon water tank and a 50 gallon foam tank with a 2,000gpm Waterous Fire Pump. The engines are equipped with rear and side view safety cameras for backing and parking. The interior crew cab has two specialized cabinets that house medical supplies.

Other features: Booster Line Reel Engine; International MAXXForce 13 450 HP Motor; Light tower Red and Yellow safety marking on the front bumper and rear of the truck to enhance night time visibility of the units while working along roadways.

These two new additions allow the department to continue improvements with modern technology to enhance emergency response to the residents and visitors of Ocean City. These new engines are consistent with the previous KME Engines adding consistency to fire apparatus in the Town.
